5. The Classic Style Guy
The clothing in this man’s wardrobe is all about timelessness, quality, and proven pieces that will never go out of style.
When a man wears classic clothes, he knows that he will still look great in a picture of himself ten years from now.
Because of this, he is willing to invest in quality pieces. He doesn’t mind spending hundreds of dollars on a pair of shoes or thousands on a suit because he knows he will get a lot of wear out of them.
I probably wouldn’t have had a conflict with my English teacher in my senior year of high school if we had read any literature by people of color throughout the year. This also applies to the previous year. This is especially surprising considering the name of the class was International Baccalaureate.
Once I started college, I made a point of seeking out the influential literature that I missed in high school, which had mainly focused on works by white authors. The African American literature classes made a particularly strong impression on me. While I had previously read a lot of contemporary black writing, these classes opened my eyes to a whole new world of literature from the past. I couldn’t help but wonder how impactful these writers could have been if included in my high school’s curriculum. Would more black students have enjoyed their English classes? Would our white peers have gained a better understanding of certain issues?
